Excess fats are in the Top 10 on the list of what we don’t want to see in our body! However, even if we do not have excess weight, we may have regional fats that we cannot get rid of. Or sometimes losing weight can be too much for the person. The liposuction method, which has existed for many years, has become a much more preferred and applicable method with the increasing interest in recent years. Developing technology and devices with increasing capacities have also satisfied this interest.

You had the most beautiful feeling in the world and you held your child in your arms. You nursed for days and nights.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is the process of removing regional fat in the body with vacuum devices and thin tubes called cannulas. The doctor enters the incisions, usually 2 mm in diameter, under the skin with the help of cannulas, and the excess fat tissues are vacuumed out. The point that should be especially emphasized is that the liposuction procedure gives ideal results for people who are not overweight. The effect of liposuction is regional and its main function is to bring the body to a balanced ratio. In addition, the fats extracted from these regions can be used as filling materials in different surgeries after they go through some special processes.

How does it work?

First of all, we need to underline that Liposuction is not a weight loss method, contrary to the general belief. Liposuction is a method used in the solution of regional fat deposition that cannot be prevented even after losing weight. It is preferred in the elimination of body disproportions or some physiological disorders that cannot be eliminated by physical activities or exercise. Its use area is very broad. It can be used either independently or as a complementary method in the treatment of feminine breast in men, excess fat accumulation in the neck, nape, chin, as well as being used alongside arm, abdomen and leg lifting procedures. All of the procedures are aimed at achieving the ideal proportions of the body and to give it an aesthetic balance. Liposuction not only allows us to remove excess fat, but also the fat removed from one part of the body can be processed and turned into a natural material for eliminating different aesthetic problems. The fat removed via liposuction can turn into a filling material for lips, chin, face, hips and breasts.

What are the issues to take into consideration before and after this procedure?

First of all, you should share with your doctor all the details including your general daily routine and the diseases you have had, your chronic diseases, and the medications you regularly use. After your doctor decides to go through the liposuction procedure with local or general anaesthesia, you should learn from your doctor the appropriate instructions for the option chosen for you. Before the procedure, you should pay attention not to consume too much fat. You should quit smoking and drinking alcohol. Smoking is a point that deserves special attention, as it will have negative effects both during and after the procedure. If general anesthesia is chosen for you, you should stop eating 8 hours before the operation as it is the case in many general anaesthesia cases.

If you leave your information, we will call you as soon as possible.

    Who is eligible for Liposuction?

People who have applied the necessary dietary and exercise programs but have not achieved the desired result and consequently are uncomfortable with their regional fats are suitable candidates for liposuction, provided that they are over the age of 18.

What parts of the body may go through Liposuction?

    In women:

    • Abdomen
    • Waist
    • Hips
    • Back

    In men:

    • Abdomen
    • Waist
    • Breasts

After Liposuction, how long does the healing period take?

If Liposuction is performed under general anesthesia, a one-day hospital stay is required. In local anesthesia, the patient can be discharged on the same day. It is necessary to wear a binder on the treated area for one month after the procedure. It is strongly recommended to wear a binder during the day and night for the first fifteen days, and only during the day or night for the second fifteen days. From the day of the procedure, small walks should be made and a balanced diet program should be applied. It is normal to experience mild pain and dizziness at first after the procedure. Painkillers and instructions that your doctor will recommend will help you get through this process comfortably. Within 6-8 weeks after the procedure, the results begin to be felt, and the final result can be fully observed in the third month.

Will fat be deposited again in the areas where Liposuction is applied?

Liposuction significantly reduces the fat cells in the area and these fat cells are not replaced with new ones. However, the few remaining fat cells can grow if the patient follows a fatty and unbalanced diet, and this again causes a certain amount of fat deposition. This small amount of fat deposition will not be as much as those in the non-liposuctioned area. For this reason, regular exercise and a balanced diet should be followed after the procedure.

What are the devices used for liposuction?

There are liposuction assistant devices known as Laser-Vaser devices and Power assisted devices. Laser liposuction device converts optical energy to heat energy to melt the fat in the body; and, Vaser converts sound waves into heat energy. Power assisted devices, on the other hand, melt and break the fat with mechanical energy. Depending on your body, skin flexibility and the area that the procedure is due, one or more of these devices might be used by your doctor.

Will there be skin sagging in the area where fat is removed after liposuction?

To answer this question, it is necessary to know the structure of the skin in the area where liposuction will be performed. There may be sagging in areas such as the lower abdomen, the inner side of the upper leg, and the armpits, which are areas where skin elasticity may be too high. Before the operation, your doctor may suggest a stretching procedure or skin tightening procedure to prevent skin sagging that may occur. If stretching procedures will not be followed and skin elasticity is at a medium-high level, Laser or Plasma technologies may be used. During the pre-operative examination, your doctor will determine which method is suitable for you and make necessary suggestions.
