Having a child is one of the wonderful experiences in the world. You have had this experience and now you are a mother. A new-born baby will require your attention for days or even months. You breastfeed for months; you eat a lot to have plenty of milk. After months, you stop breastfeeding. Now it’s time to stand in front of the mirror!
Almost no mother is very satisfied with the way her body transforms at the end of birth and breastfeeding. The body, which gains weight during pregnancy, the skin, which stretches at the abdomen, and the breasts, which are swollen, slowly get back to their original state. However, this great change deforms almost every part of the body and leaves its traces after this difficult period. This deformation, the level of which varies according to the structure of the person, can sometimes be so advanced that it cannot be restored with a proper diet and a set of exercise. Excess weight is lost, but sagging, loosening or cracks continue to look uncomfortable. So, is there a solution to those?

What is a mommy makeover?
The Mommy Makeover is a series of surgical operations that aim to return the body of the new mother to its previous form. These operations may be performed at many areas at the same time, and they include procedures, such as breast lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction. The content of these surgeries may vary from person to person.
Which areas and types of surgeries does mommy makeover cover?
Mommy makeover covers surgical procedures, such as tummy tuck, buttocks and leg aesthetics, breast aesthetics and liposuction. However, there is no rule that all these procedures will be performed one by one in each case. The scope of the procedures may differ according to the needs of the person’s body structure and personal expectations from this procedure.
Liposuction
This is the removal of fat tissues that have become resistant to physical exercise in certain parts of our body. After giving birth, this process is more needed in the abdomen, waist, back and hips.
Abdominoplasty
A more aesthetic appearance is obtained by enlarging the incision area where the birth is made with c-section and intervening on the sagging skin and the loosened muscle tissues in the abdomen.

Labiaplasty
In some cases, women’s inner vaginal flaps become stretched after giving birth. In labiaplasty, both functional and cosmetic improvement is achieved by removing the excess tissues in this area.
Breast Lift
With the effect of the hormones secreted during breastfeeding and with the milk ducts enlarging, the breasts becomes larger than normal. Breast lift surgery is performed to remove the sagging on the breasts area after breastfeeding and to bring the breast to a more upright position. The sagging skin is removed, and silicone prostheses when necessary to give the breast an upright stance.
Who is eligible for mommy makeover?
Although the name of the surgery includes the word ‘mommy’, this procedure can also be applied to people who experience similar deformation as a result of aging or excessive weight gain or loss. However, mostly new mothers constitute the general audience of this procedure since they experience the weight loss and resulting deformations in their bodies after giving birth.
How long do these surgeries take?
The overall duration of the surgeries vary since the number of surgeries change for each patient, while we can say they take approximately 5 hours on average.
What are the issues to take into consideration before and after this procedure?
It is recommended to quit blood thinners such as aspirins approximately three weeks before the surgery. It is necessary to stay away from food that will cause constipation and to follow a diet program that facilitates digestion, three days from the surgery.
After the surgery, if tummy tuck is included, the patient is hospitalised for at least two days. Four or five hours after the operation, the patient can eat and it is recommended to stand up carefully. It is necessary not to stand upright while walking for three to four days. On the second day, the drains to take the blood out are removed and the patient can take a shower afterwards. From the tenth day on, non-excessive physical exercises and walking can be done. After one month, the patient goes back to his/her daily life. In addition, it is important for the patient to use abdominal binders and sports bras for the period recommended by the doctor in terms of accelerating the healing process.
